Egyptian Royal Family Brooch/Pendant by Museum Reproductions

Displays of affection between members of the Egyptian royal family are unique to the art of the Amarna period. This delicate design is adapted from a relief showing Queen Nefertiti and her husband, the Pharoah Ahkenaton, cuddling three of their daughters under Aten’s radiant sun disk.

This pin-pendant was created in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the painted bust
of Queen Nefertiti.

The gold plated pewter brooch is set with a carnelian stone. The back has both a pin and a bale with a black cotton cord so it can worn as a brooch pin or a pendant.  It comes gift boxed and is about 2 inches wide.

Item Number: MR-6012B | Approximate Size (Inches): 1.75 wide x 0.08 deep x 1.25 high | Approximate Shipping Weight: 0.25 lbs.

Carnelian A glassy, translucent stone, Carnelian is an orange-colored variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. It varies from pale pinkish-orange to a deep rusty brown, though it is most known for its brilliant orange and red-orange. The Ancient Egyptians associated it blood and the Goddess Isis and often used it in jewelry and amulets. It is said to promote confidence, communication, love, passion, and inspiration.
Origin Hand made in the USA
Gold Vermeil Vermeil is a combination of sterling silver, gold, and other precious metals, commonly used as a component in jewelry. A typical example is sterling silver coated with 14 carat (58%) gold. To be considered vermeil, the gold must be at least 10 carat (42%) and be at least 2.5 micrometres thick. Vermeil can be produced by either fire-gilding or electrolysis. Today, vermeil is safely produced by electrolysis. It is very durable with normal wear but as with all plating methods, it can be worn away in reaction with some people or chemicals
Pewter Pewter is a malleable metal alloy, traditionally 85–99% tin, with the remainder consisting of copper and other metals. It has a low melting point and is very easy to cast in molds. It has been used since ancient times for everything from jewelry to table wear and was once called the "poor mans silver". Generally pewter has a grayish/silver semi-dull finish, though this varies depending on the metals combined with the tin and can be colored black or other shades or plated with gold or silver. All our pewter pieces are lead and nickel free. Pewter is generally hypo-allergenic and will not tarnish or react in most conditions. Note it can break or crack if flexed multiple times and rings cannot be re-sized, though interior ring springs or other adjusters might be used.
